I’ve been sleeping badly lately. This publicaition began as a way to make light of my restless sleep. Most mornings, I wake up to find my four pillows scattered in strange new positions. So, I decided to document these arrangements. These small, accidental compositions mirrored the unease of the night before. Each page translates those moments into a simple system of rectangles.
Inspired by Mierle Laderman Ukeles’ idea of Maintenance Art, I’m interested in how daily disorder can become material. How mess, tended to with humor and restraint, can reveal something about persistence, comfort, the uneasy rituals of rest. How everyday repetition and mess can become a kind of art if you pay attention.
